- When will Mumbai Metro Line 12 open?
No official opening date has been published. The latest reported target is May 2028 (reported in December 2025). An earlier reported target was 31 Dec 2027, and the 2019 project report had assumed 31 Oct 2024. MMRDA's project page gives no date.

- How much of Line 12 is built?
MMRDA's progress table for 31 Aug 2026 puts pile works at 37.12%, pile cap works at 31.54%, pier works at 25.88%, pier cap works (erection) at 26.84%, U-girder works (erection) at 18.75%. Loksatta reported on 27 Sep 2026, quoting unnamed MMRDA sources, that 53.87% of the whole line is complete; MMRDA itself publishes no overall figure.

Kalyan to Amandoot (Taloja), via Dombivli MIDC, Kalyan Growth Centre, Wadavli, Turbhe and Pisarve. The line is 23.57 km long, fully elevated, with 19 stations. It runs above Kalyan-Shilphata Road from Kalyan to Sonarpada.

- Which trains will run on Line 12?
No train maker has been chosen yet. The trains are part of the systems tender MMRDA floated in June 2026. The 2019 project report plans 3-car air-conditioned trains, growing to 6 cars, with a top operating speed of 80 km/h.

- Is Line 12A the same as Line 12?
No. Metro Line 12A (Kalyan Phata to Taloja via Dahisar Mori) is a separate project: 18.4 km elevated corridor with 12 stations, joining Line 12 near Khutari village. Administrative approval of Rs 8,414.53 crore reported in February 2026. Its figures are not counted in Line 12's.
- What else is Metro Line 12 called?
Mumbai Metro Line 12 is also called Metro 12 or Kalyan-Dombivli-Taloja Metro. It is part of the Orange Line, as the southern extension of Metro Line 5.
